Faculty of Civil Engineering is an institution with a tradition of six decade, at which time a pillar of one of the most important industries-Construction. The main task at Faculty of Civil Engineering is to provide high quality and competitive education of staff from the branch that covered. Faculty is innovating continuously the study programs according with modern scientific achievements, as well as the methods and means of carrying out the teaching process.

To deepen the theoretical and scientific knowledge of graduate civil engineers, Faculty of Civil Engineering – Skopje, in certain time intervals, depending on the interest of the candidates, organize postgraduate studies. The first such a studies, for a period of three semesters, and another one for making the master work, begun in 1974, with structural engineering. After two years, began a new cycle, from structural engineering and roads and railways. In the period 1980-82 were held studies on three directions: structural, hydro-technical and roads and railways engineering. The next cycle, from 1984-86, also includes graduate studies in three directions: structural, and hydro-technical and geomechanics and foundation. The fifth cycle, held in the period 1988-89, is organized in two directions - structural and hydrotechnics.

In recent years classes are held three directions: structural, hydro-technical and roads and railways engineering, according to the reformed program, with many electives which give the opportunity to perform with subdivision mentoring classes. Together with studies by gaining the title "Master of Technical Sciences," organized and graduate studies for obtaining the title of "specialist" for certain areas of construction, but the interest of experts for this type of training was relatively weak. In the initial period of performance of graduate studies academic-scientific disciplines were covered, in addition to its own staff, and other eminent teachers from the faculties of our university, as well as guests from other colleges and universities. By 31.IV.2008 of our faculty are defended 77 master works and one a specialist paper.

The purpose of postgraduate studies is to create a solid base expert will contribute to the successful integration of our global community in the integration processes on the one hand, and successfully solve the problems facing with the construction industry on the other side. Also with the organization of postgraduate studies creates the possibility of teaching self production scientific potential, necessary for carrying out teaching all levels of higher education in our state.
